Leave Me Out At Seaworld [10 Dec 2006|11:33am]
"Where has Léger gone?" I'm sure you're asking yourself this question everyday, endlessly signing online to see...."Did they update their myspace page?" or maybe "There's a new blog entry?" Well I'm here to tell you that yes this is real, and yes this is happening, we, Léger are updating our Stay_Hush journal.

Question: "What have you been doing since the last update in June?"
Answer: Well my kind hearted folks, we have played plethora of shows and festivals throughout the South Florida area. If you missed out on any of these, you should probably go straight to church and ask forgiveness immediately. It's a sin to not see how cute Dave, Jordan and Jeff are. Other than that we've put the final touches on the tracks, and now we are mixing.

"Mixing you say?"

Yes, mixing. We have finally begun everyones favorite process while recording an album....the mix. Well let me be the first to tell you that the songs sound wonderful. We are all extremely proud of the sound we've gotten, and we know you all will love it.

Question: "So, what do I do with myself while I wait for this so called 'album' to come out?"
Answer: Sit in front of your computer everyday, log into our myspace (www.myspace.com/leger), and refresh every 6 hours. Because you never know when Léger might do something crazy and leak a track for your listening pleasure.

Other than that, you can camp outside any ticketmaster outlet for days at a time, just for the chance to be the first to buy tickets to our next show.

Question: "When will I be able to be pardoned for my sins and see you guys play live?"
Answer: Well my child, the God Lord is never in a rush, so probably not until next year. But we know you'll be fine with the whole redemption thing, that good ole Lord is always ready to forgive.

For now I leave you with this thought:

If a train traveling at 75 miles per hour leaves Seattle at 10:00 am and another train traveling at 65 miles per hour leaves from Boston at 11:30 am, who will get to the Netherlands third?

Takin' on the town.. [04 Mar 2006|12:40pm]
Recording recording recording.

The album is coming along great, and pretty promptly, we'll be tracking guitars for the album. The whole process has been exciting thus far, with plenty of fun and plenty of headbutts.

Such is life in the studio.

On another important note, we're practicing for the first time in a couple of weeks today. Hopefully we won't be too rusty. Maybe we'll work on a set, maybe we'll work on new songs, who knows?

But altogether, we're doing well and we hope you'll all enjoy the album when it comes out.

Take care.

Dear léger, [15 Jan 2006|03:10pm]
How has life been since New Years? What are your next plans? What is going on?

You're all probably not asking yourself these questions, seeing as we have like 6 friends on here, no one comments, or ever reads it. But I'll answer them anyway.

The New Years gig was incredible. We sounded great, and everyone enjoyed it. We got a lot of positive feedback afterward that was extremely nice to hear. Whoever went, thank you so much from the bottoms of our hearts. We appreciate the support.

Our next plans right now are to get back into the studio and record a couple more songs. Shortly after we do this, we're going to set up more shows, get some merchandise, get our website hooked up within the month, and book a northern Florida tour.

Lately we've been writing again, and have successfully written three more songs. One by Derek, one by Jeff, and one by me. All three are great songs, and we still have a few more songs up our sleeves to write, I think.

Well, here's an updated song list.

*A Room Without Walls
*The Doldrums (Leave Me Out At Sea)
*Likewise
*La Bonne Nuit Goodnight
*Acronym
*These Days
*Oh, Mischief
*The Divine Comedy (Back to The Country Western Song)
*The Thicket And The Thistle
*Vulnerable
*Where The Heart Is
*I'm Coming Down
*Skyscraper
*Upon Shallow Sand
*Clara Can Wait
*What She Has
*You Are (STILL needs work lyrically)
*Mime (SO GOOD)
*Jeff's new song (tentatively titled "The Deaf Salesman")
*My new song (Tentatively titled John Eastwood, or Clint Wayne).

Take care.

léger in the newspaper. [30 Dec 2005|06:29pm]
To everyone,

léger was in the newspaper today. We were interviewed for the Sun Sentinel, and are featured in the Showtime section.

Depending on which county you're in the page number will change. For Broward, it seems to be page 39. For Boca it's been page 43. FIND IT. The section inside Showtime is "Homegrown".

Buy a paper for a quarter and a dime and support léger.

Here's a link to the article, without a picture: http://www.sun-sentinel.com/features/custom/showtime/sfl-sh30homegdec30,0,4690230.story

It's been a little bit since we last updated this. But it's Jordan, and I felt like it.

Things are great in our world lately. We've been practicing our songs lately, and have been perfecting them more and more. We have the set list for the New Years Gig worked out, and it's going to be a doozy.

Furthermore, we were just interviewed last night via speaker phone by a nice young lady for the Sun Sentinel newspaper. So, on Friday, go pick up the newspaper and grab the Showtime section, and look for the picture of us, and the interview with léger.

Every finished song has a name right now. So, the finished song list is as followed.

*A Room Without Walls
*The Doldrums (Leave Me Out At Sea)
*Likewise
*La Bonne Nuit Goodnight
*Acronym
*These Days
*Oh, Mischief (sounding great by the way)
*The Divine Comedy
*The Thicket And The Thistle (This is such a second album song it's not even funny)
*Vulnerable
*Where The Heart Is
*I'm Coming Down
*Skyscraper
*Upon Shallow Sand
*Clara Can Wait
*What She Has
*You Are (still needs work lyrically)

We have rehearsal tonight, tomorrow night, and probably the night after that too. We are going to be ready for New Years. Hope to see you all there.

update:

i just finished the lyrics to the "happyface song" it's new title "what she has." i also just finished the lyrics to "you are" and jordan wrote basically all of "i'm coming down", and i just finished up the final touches. both song are keeping their original titles. i really like the chorus to "you are", it states,

"i am invincible because you are with me. i'm not alone.
i'd be invisible. without you i am so low"

the song list is now:

*A Room Without Walls
*The Doldrums (Leave Me Out At Sea)
*Likewise
*La Bonne Nuit Goodnight
*Acronym
*These Days
*Oh, Mischief (still needing a bridge)
*Country Western Song (needs a name, lyrics are done)
*The Ticket And The Thistle (aka S.P.F. or Super Piano Fantastic)
*Vulnerable
*Where The Heart Is
*I'm Coming Down
*Skyscraper
*Trip-hop Song
*Clara Can Wait
*What She Has
*You Are

Wow, seventeen songs, and that doesn't include a few others that have music and lyrics done, but haven't been worked such as "mime", a slow piano one i wrote, "front back front", a piano one jordan wrote, and everyone's favorite "hold on", the infectiously catchy song jeff wrote.

so things are looking good in the léger camp. dave is working out great, and the music is taking on a life of it's own. we be on our way.

until next time,

Late night mind-numb. [11 Nov 2005|03:34am]
[ mood | inspired ]

I'm up.

I'm currently writing lyrics to the Country Western song right now. They're good-uns. Things have been great in the world of légeria lately. I'm hoping for it to smooth out a bit, because practices have been productive, yet a bit tense. It would help if we all kind of went with the flow, a little more, and didn't have to stick to a strict song diet. But then again, it's good productivity.

I wrote a new melody for Acronym, and the song name will probably be changed. Deal. (EDIT: I just finished the new song lyrics for it. It will now be known as "Soon As Next". I am productive tonight.)

After that comes the lyrics for the new rockin' song we've written. No tenative name for that one. Trust me when I say it's good. (EDIT: I just finished the lyrics. The name of this song is "Clara Can Wait". ADD IT TO THE LIST".)

Dave is a great bass player, and I'm enjoying his company in the band. I can't wait until we get passed all the stuff we've already written, so when we start writing new ones, he's really free to spread his wings on that mean instrument.

The biggest joke on me is that the only people who read this are the people in the band. But you'll all look back one day and be like "WOW! THESE ENTRIES ARE ALL REALLY INTERESTING". Just wait.

Current first chorus lyrics in Country Western:

"The graves still dig.
'It's war!' they'll sing.
Mmm, I'll put the fires out with Luci's humor."

We're on our way. It feels good.

A Hard Day's Night... [14 Oct 2005|02:43am]
[ mood | contemplative ]
[ music | TV. ]

And we were working today we were.

It's Jordan at the helm of the journal tonight and I have some news for you. Today we had our first "Real" practice since studio time. The practice before doesn't count, because we didn't get anything accomplished, and it only lasted about an hour.

In any case, back in our studio space to practice, and boy did we get some things accomplished.

First, we started with setting up our space, and briefly messing with my Ebow. After I got that on lock down, we decided to work on "S.P.F." AKA "Super Piano Fantastic" (Trust me this name will change before we record it... Maybe). We got through to the harmonies, and decided to sit down and map them out. After that sounded divine, we started a the beginning and have a new opening. Ebow apparent. After the choir-esque opening we moved into the whole song, and did it about 4 times altogether. It ended up sounding amazing.

After that, I had no idea what would come next, and Derek started playing his piano riff for us. Suddenly we just jammed through it once, and I got a primary lead part down. We messed with the drum beat for a while, and finally moved into it. I got room to breathe today, which felt nice guitar wise. It's nice to have the feeling of space in writing your own lines. Lines you grow to become comfortable with, because you wrote them, and you know how to play it right. So, we ran through the beginning, and I brought my Ebow back for a generally different sound in the song. Where in "S.P.F." it's gonna be a bit more haunting, and eerie. But in the other song "Song No. 1" as I jokingly named it until we have lyrics, the Ebow effect is used for more of a synth sound. No crunch on the guitar, and saturated in effects, the tone sounds a bit more ambient. After we jammed through and got arrangements, we ran through that about 4 times. It ended up sounding great.

Soon after, we yanked out an old riff that I wrote, and Derek combined with something he wrote, it has become tenatively "I'm Coming Down" as the chorus mumbles sound. Instead of playing guitar on this one, I decided to have some fun and play bass until we got the bass player in mind into the band. It was fun, and I think for someone who isn't a bass player, I played pretty damn well. We ran through it once, forgetting a part completely. Finally, implicating it into the song, we ran through again and again. Probably about 4 for that one too. We got some visitors, we played through all three of the songs again. Then we busted out "Where The Heart Is", which would be the usual closer, but we were still in the mood. We played "Goodnight (La Bonne Nuit)" into "Likewise", but Derek broke a string. He picked up the bass and we played a forgetful version of "Acronym". We packed it up after this and that was the night.

So add two more songs onto that list of completed songs. "I'm Coming Down", and "'Song No. 1'"

*Room Without Walls
*The Doldrums
*Likewise
*La Bonne Nuit Goodnight
*Acronym
*These Days
*Oh, Mischief
*Country Western Song (needs lyrics)
*SPF
*Vulnerable
*Where The Heart Is
*King For A Moment
NEW*Song No. 1
NEW*I'm Coming Down

So all in all, 14 songs that have been completed. Pretty impressive since we have a bunch more songs that are an inch away from being completed.

When it comes to the studio, I'm excited to see where these songs will take us. Because you get your sound in the studio sometimes, opposed to live. Different sounds.

I'm looking forward to this band immensely.

jordan

P.S. Derek, sorry for punching you.
